Lollipop made it to Turner Marina in Mobile Bay, Alabama, yesterday. She is docked and hooked up to shore power. Tom is thankful for the air conditioning and a good nights rest.
Another Great Harbour boat called JADIP is at the marina. We met Steve and Carol in Jacksonville, Florida, and toured their boat. They are going up to the Illinois River to cross through the closed locks for maintenance in 2019. By doing this, JADIP will complete Steve and Carol’s first Great Loop journey. Then they will turn around and start a 2nd journey around the Great Loop. Each boat makes this journey their own and does it their way. (Frank Sinatra song here)!
Anyway, JADIP and Lollipop will be buddy boats for a while as they travel north. The two boats are waiting at Turner Marine for the water level to recede on the rivers north. Because of the tropical storm last week, the rivers are running high and have floating debris. Carol on JADIP has contacted a lockmaster on the Tombigbee river for advice on travel plans. It looks like the next leg of the journey will be around Wednesday.
