After arriving at Turner Marine, Captain Tom and I drove from Mobile, AL, to Amelia Island, FL, for the 2021 Great Harbour Trawlers Association Annual meeting. The afternoon we arrived, there was a meet and greet of those attending. We met more Great Harbour boat owners in different stages of boat ownership, looking for a boat to purchase, retrofitting a newly purchased boat, cruising, full-time liveaboards, and a few selling their boats.
As the annual meeting continued, we were able to board other Great Harbours. Again we found that they are all the same but different. Original owners had customizations done while the factory was building the boat. Each additional owner seems to put their mark on these boats with remodels or retrofits.
Each attendee began the seminar by standing up and introducing themselves. Folks were from all over the US and in different stages of boat ownership. The workshops had some great information. Thomas was able to get ideas from other owners about some of Lollipop’s systems. While I was touring the island with some of the other admirals, Thomas learned more about Lollipop’s history which he will talk about in another post.
We hope to cross paths with many of the crews we met at the 2021 GHTA Annual Meeting. In particular, we enjoyed meeting the crew of C-Marie from Texas. C-Marie began their great loop journey in October.
Lollipop is docked in Mobile until after the holidays, so Tom and I will be enjoying our new grandbaby and our holidays at the dirt house.
