While anchored at Caya Costa State Park, we took the dingy over to the State Park Thursday morning to explore. First, we went to the gift shop, and I bought a t-shirt and a refrigerator magnet. I’ve decided to collect refrigerator magnets from some of the places we visit. Then, we went for a hike around the island paths. The first path, the Quarantine Path, took us through thick Florida vegetation to a beach. Then we went down a trail called Cemetary Path down the island’s center. We saw a baby snake and went by an old cemetery along the way. Altogether, I think we walked about 2 miles.
Next, we took Gumdrop over to Cabbage Key to have lunch at the Cabbage Key Inn. We both had our cheeseburger in paradise. After lunch, we walked around Cabbage Key a little before heading back to Caya Costa State Park.
Once back to our island, we explored a place called the Manatee Hole. We did indeed see some manatees. We anchored Gumdrop for a little while and just watched them.
After watching the manatees, we went back to Lollipop and planned our next day’s trip.
